Akron police are seeking the public’s help in locating a Delia Avenue man who’s wanted in connection with the killing of a man in a 2015 late-night gas station shootout and the dumping of his body several blocks away.
Romeo L. Thomas, 29, is wanted on charges of murder, felonious assault and corpse abuse.
Thomas is described as a black man with a beard, 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds. Police advise he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts is asked to contact Akron police at 330-375-2490; the U.S. Marshals Service at 866-4-WANTED (926833); or Summit County Crime Stoppers at 330-434-COPS (2677). Callers can remain anonymous.
According to reports of the incident, Thomas drove the car in which James C. Tyler, 27, died following a shootout at a Circle K gas station near Copley Road and Orlando Avenue at 5:30 a.m. in August 2015. More than two dozen shots were fired between two black vehicles: a Chrysler 300 and a 2004 Infinity.
The Infinity, allegedly driven by Thomas, fled the gas station and Tyler’s body was discovered near the road on Peerless Avenue, several blocks away. The abandoned car was found hours later by Richfield police with bullet holes outside and blood inside.
An injured 21-year-old man was discovered in the Chrysler by Akron police at the gas station.
