Hudson is the safest community in the Akron area, according to a new study.
Safewise.com, a group that pushes home security systems, on Monday released its list of the “20 Safest Cities in Ohio,” with Hudson coming in at No. 6.
The top five across the state, in order, were: Dover, Chester Township, Bay Village, Bellevue and Poland Township.
In addition to Hudson, several other Akron-area communities placed in the top 20: Sagamore Hills Township (13th), Montville Township (14th), Aurora (16th) and Brunswick (20th).
The website says it reviewed FBI Crime Report statistics and factored in population when compiling its list. Communities with fewer than 2,000 residents were not included.
