An Akron man and a former postal employee are heading to federal prison for conspiring to mail and deliver a large quantity of methamphetamine.

U.S. District Judge Dan Polster sentenced Wesley J. Tucker, 40, to 12 years in prison and former U.S. postal employee Jailila Stoudemire, 28, of Euclid to 37 months in prison Monday in federal court in Cleveland.

Investigators say Tucker and Stoudemire conspired in November 2015 to distribute more than 3 kilograms (6.6 pounds) of methamphetamine, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Stoudemire provided Tucker with addresses on her mail route so she could intercept the drugs and deliver them to Tucker. They arranged for parcels to be shipped from post offices in Sacramento and Garden Grove, Calif., to addresses on White Pond Drive and Liberty Drive in Akron, according to court documents.

Stoudemire received the packages, removed the contents and attempted to deliver them to Tucker, according to court documents.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Akron police.
