AKRON: City police are investigating a rash of car break-ins that occurred late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning on the city’s far west side and in the Fairlawn Heights neighborhood.

In each case, a suspect smashed a vehicle window and often took personal belongings inside such as a wallet, book bag, cash, gift cards, video games and laptop computer.

At least five people have filed reports, but police believe there may be more victims.

Police identified the streets targeted as Overwood Road, Goodhue Drive, North Wheaton Road, Thornhill Drive and Braewick Drive.

Authorities advised people not to leave items inside vehicles in plain view and to park inside a garage or a well-lit area when possible.

Anyone with information about the break-ins is asked to call the detective bureau at 330-375-2490.
