LOUISVILLE: The Louisville school board is seeking to fire three of the 10 teachers who are accused of deleting thousands of electronic school files before the teachers union went out on strike in November, the Canton Repository reports.
The board voted Tuesday to suspend the three teachers without pay until they are terminated. State law requires the board to provide the teachers with 10 days notice before formally letting them go, the newspaper says.
The Louisville Education Association issued a statement supporting the teachers.
“We are deeply saddened that three of our excellent, highly qualified, and exceedingly regarded teachers/community members have to face this unwarranted termination,” union spokeswoman Angela Emmons said. “The termination process is not over until fully adjudicated. Subsequently these individuals are not officially gone until a termination hearing is held.”
