High school roundup: Copley rallies for 27-26 victory over Barberton

Senior Weston Bridges scored the game-winning touchdown with 2:13 remaining in the game to rally the visiting Indians (3-1, 1-0) to a Suburban League-American Conference win over the Magics (3-1, 0-1).

The Magics led 20-13 at halftime and 26-20 late in the fourth quarter before Bridges’ 2-yard touchdown run gave the Indians the win.

Zane Ries threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns and Keye Thompson rushed for a touchdown to lead the Magics.

Bridges rushed for 182 yards and three touchdowns and Austin Brenner had a 3-yard touchdown run for the Indians.

Cuyahoga Falls 7

Luke Strnad threw three touchdown passes and Alec Buckley rushed for two touchdowns for the visiting Bees (4-0, 1-0) in a National Conference win over the Black Tigers (1-3, 0-1). Jake Gruic had a 6-yard touchdown run for the Black Tigers.

Firestone 31, Garfield 14

Zuriel Sanders rushed for a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass and returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to lead the Falcons (1-3, 1-0) over the Golden Rams (1-3, 0-1).

William Shropshire returned an interception 32 yards for a touchdown to lead the Rams.

Justin Sampson returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and Brandon Bischof recovered a fumble and returned it for a touchdown for the Fighting Irish (2-2) in a loss to the Cardinals (3-1).

Federal League

Canton McKinley 52,
Green 21

Dominique Robinson rushed for 201 yards and two touchdowns and also threw for 158 yards and a touchdown to lead visiting Canton McKinley (3-1, 1-0) to a victory over Green (2-2, 0-1).

Javon Lewis rushed for three touchdowns for McKinley, and Jeremy McAleese rushed for 156 yards and two touchdowns to lead Green.

Jackson 21, Perry 14

Senior Dillon Dingler caught a touchdown pass and rushed for a touchdown and senior Jack Dear had the game-winning 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter for the visiting Polar Bears (4-0, 1-0).

Elijah Ladson rushed for three touchdowns and Abe Billings caught a 48-yard touchdown pass from J.J. Olivera to lead the visiting Golden Eagles (3-1, 1-0).

Kodey Lewis had a 70-yard touchdown run and Seth Johnson had a 5-yard touchdown run to lead the host Trojans (3-1, 1-0) to a 13-point second half in the comeback win. Lewis rushed for 313 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans.

Jaquiez Sampson rushed for 157 yards and four touchdowns and Chris Pennell threw for 194 yards and two touchdowns for the host Dukes (4-0, 1-0).

Brody Hahn threw three touchdown passes, two to Tyler Adams, and Gavin Van Zant rushed for two touchdowns for the host Leopards.
