Named in the indictment are Rabih Kairouz, 29, of Akron; Anton D. Easter Jr., 26, of Akron; Scott Gay Jr., 33, of Canton; and Corey Turnbull, 26, of Ravenna.
David Sierleja, acting U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, said Kairouz and Turnbull worked as supervisors at the Five Points postal station in Akron. Gay was a manager at the North Hill station.
From February through May of this year, the men are accused of intercepting suspected drug parcels going through the mail system, opening the parcels, removing the marijuana contained inside, selling the drugs to Easter, then sharing the profits, according to Sierleja’s office.
Kairouz also had a kilogram of methamphetamine that he stole from the mail, according to the indictment.
The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and the Akron Police Department. It is being prosecuted by assistant U.S. attorneys Henry DeBaggis and Teresa Riley.
