CANTON: City police turned the tables on a man who complained on social media that his wife was mistreated during a traffic stop.

Police on Friday posted a video on Facebook showing the interaction between the officer and woman who was stopped for speeding on the highway and not having the vehicle headlights on at night. The video was taken with a body camera.

The man, who wasn’t identified by police, had complained that the officer “was a jerk,” “treated her like trash and was disrespectful.” He also urged people to watch out for the officer.

But the video shows the officer was polite and gave the man’s wife a break by giving her a citation only for a headlight violation and not speeding.

The video had been viewed more than 107,000 times as of Monday morning and the Facebook post has received more than 700 comments.

The commenters marveled at how nice the officer was and several urged the man to issue an apology.

“To be fair, he did not offer her a cold beverage,” commenter Justin Insley wrote.
