StageFest is at Highland Square

The first Summit StageFest will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood. The event, sponsored by Partners for Theater, is a free outdoor play festival featuring productions on five stages. You’ll see excerpts ranging from Hairspray to King Lear to La Boheme to Pinocchio. There will also be art and craft exhibitors, food vendors and street performers, as well as workshops on acting, movement and mask-making. For details, visit https://stagefest.org.

Main Library hosts Potter Faire

Marking the 20th (!) anniversary of the publication of the first Harry Potter book, Potter Faire Akron runs from 1-4 p.m. at Akron-Summit County Public Library at 60 S. High St. in downtown Akron. Pet Expo at Hardesty Park

Critter lovers should check out the Pet Expo from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Hardesty Park, 1615 W. Market St., Akron. There will be Akron Police K-9 demonstrations, a Cutest Pet Contest, an appearance by Dick Goddard, adoptable animals, vendors and a Stuff the Van project to benefit shelters. Jack Johnson headlines Blossom

Art and wine festival in Kent

The Main Street Kent Art & Wine Festival, in its 11th year, will run from noon to 10 p.m. at the Hometown Bank Plaza and surrounding areas. Super Kids to race in Akron

Cheer on the drivers in the Greater Ohio Area Super Kids Classic Race at 10 a.m. at Derby Downs in Akron. Youths with disabilities will participate in the adapted Soap Box Derby-style race. Admission is free. For more information, go to www.superkidsohio.org.
