STOW: City police are warning drivers to slow down in rainy conditions after they handled 12 crashes on state Route 8 within a 24-hour period.
One of those crashes involved a police vehicle. Police posted on their Facebook page that a cruiser was struck and sustained minor damage while an officer was handling a crash on Route 8 “by someone who did not allow themselves ample room to pass around him.”
The officer wasn’t in the vehicle at the time.
Police also posted photos of some of the accidents.
“The highway is especially dangerous, and we are out there often!” police wrote on Facebook. “Over the past 48 hours we have had 18 calls out on the highway so PLEASE: Slow Down, Move Over and Drive Carefully out there — our safety depends on it!”
