Akron police are investigating the armed robbery of two roommates who said they recognized one of the thieves because they had smoked pot together earlier in the day.
According to police, the incident unfolded like this:
Just before 6 p.m. Wednesday, someone knocked on the door of an apartment in the 600 block of Brown Street.
When the roommates who lived there answered the door, two men armed with handguns forced their way inside and robbed the roommates of video game systems, cell phones, cash and Kyrie Irving athletic shoes.
The suspects fled with their loot without hurting anyone and the roommates called police, police said.
The roommates told officers they recognized one of the robbers “because he was at the victims’ apartment earlier in the day smoking marijuana.”
