Akron police were searching for a suspect after a 32-year-old man was shot to death early Wednesday northeast of downtown.

According to Akron police, this is what happened:

A Noah Avenue man was found shot in the chest about 7 a.m. in the 700 block of Pine Knolls Drive, which is on the edge of the Elizabeth Park Valley neighborhood, just east of state Route 8.

The wounded man was taken to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police did not release his identity.

Police said they believe the shooter is Kenneth Lindsey, 32, who lives in the Dakota Ridge Townhomes where the shooting occurred. It’s unclear what may have been the motive or why the man who died was in the area.

Detectives on Wednesday signed a murder warrant for Lindsey, described as 5-foot-6, weighing 175 pounds and having black braided hair and brown eyes. Lindsey was last seen in a silver 2005 Chevy Impala with Ohio registration GTJ5599.

Police said Lindsey should be considered armed and dangerous.

Authorities asked anyone with information about Lindsey’s whereabouts to call Akron police detectives at 330-375-2490; the U.S. Marshals Service at 1-866-4-WANTED; or Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.

People can also text TIPSCO with information to 274637 (Crimes).

Callers can remain anonymous.
