An Akron teenager woke up early Friday to find an intruder standing over her friend.

The same man was charged in a separate stalking incident earlier this year.

Akron police say shortly before 7 a.m. Friday morning, a female resident in the 1600 block of Glenmount Avenue called police to report a stranger inside of her house. The man was standing over two females sleeping in the basement. He tapped them on the shoulder and woke them up.

He then walked up the basement steps and fled out the rear door and through backyards, according to the police report.

Responding officers arrested the suspect in the 400 block of Clinton Avenue.

The females were not injured.

Andew Hayes, 38, of Circle Hill Road SE in Canton, was charged with burglary and booked into the Summit County Jail.

In April, Hayes was charged with menacing, criminal trespassing and resisting arrest when he reportedly followed a woman home from the gym.

In that incident, police say a 29-year-old woman reported to police that she was driving home from the gym at 6 a.m. when she noticed a man in a Toyota Corolla following her. He pulled up next to her car and started yelling at her. She continued to drive toward her home as he followed.

When she arrived in her neighborhood off of South Arlington Street, she started honking her car to get someone’s attention

As she pulled into her driveway, her husband — a police officer — was waiting. The suspect got out of his car and started to approach the off-duty officer. The officer ordered the man to the ground at gunpoint. The suspect started to back away from the off-duty officer. The officer struggled to take the man to the ground and handcuff him; a neighbor came outside to assist the officer.
