Akron firefighters rescued a man from a burning house late Sunday night but couldn’t save a dog from the blaze.
Authorities responded at 11:19 p.m. to a fire at a home at the intersection of Inman and Johnston streets in the city’s University Park neighborhood.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The house was believed at first to be vacant, but neighbors reported that someone was living there. Firefighters were able to rescue a man, who wasn’t injured, but a dog died in the fire.
