Akron residents may have a chance to break out their umbrellas and snow shovels all within the span of 24 hours.
Both raindrops and snowflakes are in the weather forecast in Akron.
The National Weather Service says heavy rain is expected Thursday into Friday morning before snowflakes will start flying.
As much as 2 inches of rain could fall thanks to a “low pressure system that will drift slowly across Northern Ohio and Northwest Pennsylvania,” according to the weather service.
The rain, the weather service warns, could result in some stream and river flooding.
In its wake, temperatures are expected to dip around the freezing mark with anywhere from 1 to 2 inches of snow expected to fall in the wee hours of the morning Friday and another 1 to 3 inches possible during the day on Friday.
Take heart.
It is expected to be mostly sunny Saturday and Sunday with highs in the 50s and 60s each day.
And by Tuesday when the Cleveland Indians host the home opener, there will be a chance of showers with temperatures flirting with 70 degrees.
