MACEDONIA: City police say they are being stymied from making an arrest in a purse snatching case because of privacy laws, Beacon Journal news partner News 5 Cleveland reported.
Authorities have identified a woman in the case, which took place in Walmart, thanks to a surveillance video and knowing her food assistance card number used at the store. But the Ohio Department of Family Services won’t release her identity, citing privacy laws, the television station reported.
“We are frustrated. We’ve tried legal process as a way of getting information we needed and that was denied,” detective Richard Lea said.
