Authorities discovered a man dead in a ditch Thursday in Streetsboro following a report of a possible body there, the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
Sheriff’s officers, Streetsboro Police, the Mantua Fire Department and an investigator from the Portage County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene in the 2600 block of Invernest Street.
They found the lifeless body of male face down in a ditch with three to five inches of water running through it. The man appeared to be in his twenties, 5-foot-7 and about 125 to 145 pounds.
An initial examination of the body found no signs of foul play and authorities said the death appeared to be accidental. The investigation is ongoing, and the body was taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The man has been positively identified, authorities said late Thursday, but his name was not immediately released.
