Macy's Inc. will close its stores at Rolling Acres Mall and Canton Centre, with final clearance sales to begin Sunday.
Another Macy's in North Randall will also be shuttered.
The Rolling Acres store, opened in 1978, has 84 employees, while the Canton Centre store, opened in 1968, has 76 employees.
The North Randall store, at Randall Park Mall near the southeast Cleveland suburbs of Maple Heights and Bedford Heights, has 91 employees.
''Associates displaced by store closings will be offered positions in nearby stores where possible,'' the company said in a press release issued today.
''Associates who are laid off in this process will be provided severance benefits and outplacement assistance,'' the company said.
The three Northeast Ohio stores are among nine that the Cincinnati-based chain said are underperforming and in slow-growth areas.
The other stores are:
-- Washington Square, Indianapolis, 152,000 square feet; 90 employees; opened in 1974.
-- Prien Lake Mall, Lake Charles, La., 116,000 square feet; 75 employees; opened in 2003.
-- Crossroads Mall, Oklahoma City, 153,000 square feet; 84 employees; opened in 1986.
-- Valley View Center, Dallas, Texas, 300,000 square feet; 132 employees; opened in 1973.
-- Sharpstown Center, Houston, Texas, 308,000 square feet; 172 employees; opened in 1961.
-- Family Center at Riverdale, Riverdale, Utah, 140,000 square feet; 95 employees; opened in 2003.
''While the decision to close stores is difficult, it is necessary that we do so selectively in locations with declining sales and where we have been unable to identify sufficient growth opportunities,'' Terry J. Lundgren, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Macy's, Inc., said in the press release.
''At the same time, we continue to open new Macy's store locations in communities where we believe we can operate successfully,'' Lundgren said.
The Rolling Acres Mall store is 103,000 square feet in size. The Canton Centre store is 120,000 square feet. The North Randall store is 184,000 square feet and opened in 1976.
