More than 600 non-union Summit County employees are closing in on a 2.5 percent pay raise.
County Council committee members on Monday approved 2.5 percent pay raises for 634 employees. The percentage increase matches raises this year that some county union employees are getting.
The salary budget increase totals $1,027,828. The raises work out to an average of $1,617.17 per non-union employee, according to figures supplied by the county.
Actions taken by council committees must then be approved by County Council.
The raises, which would go into effect on April 1, are for employees in the following county offices:
• Council
• Executive
• Fiscal officer
• Prosecutor
• Sheriff
• Clerk of courts
• Engineer
• Internal audit
• Information technology
• Human Resource Commission
• Development Finance Authority.
In other business Monday, County Council committee members approved boosting the annual salaries of the three Human Resource Commission members to $8,190. The increase means the commission members reach the minimum service credit threshold for the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System.
Jason Dodson, chief of staff for County Executive Ilene Shapiro, said it is the county’s custom to increase this kind of compensation and reflects past practice. The three commission members get no other fringe benefits.
Also Monday, council committee members approved a new public road for increased access to the Tri-County Plaza in the village of Lakemore. The project will involve upgrading a now-closed private road at the plaza to public road standards.
