AKRON: Akron police responded to a shooting Thursday afternoon near the Odd Corner, a gift shop at 360 E. Exchange St., near the University of Akron campus.
Akron and UA police were on the scene at around 3:30 p.m. Thursday. An apartment above the store appeared to be where the shooting occurred.
Kamron Johnson of Akron said she was heading into the store when police and an ambulance arrived.
Johnson said an Odd Corner employee told police that the store manager took a break and headed up to one of the apartment units, where her boyfriend reportedly lives. The manager was allegedly shot in the leg in the apartment.
Police have not released an official statement as to what happened.
The store was closed Thursday afternoon. A sign on the door said it will reopen on Friday.
