AKRON: City investigators are trying to determine what caused a fire at a manufacturing building Wednesday afternoon at 355 Morgan Ave.
Firefighters responded at 4:27 p.m. to a call about heavy smoke coming from the building and opted not to attack the interior of the structure because of previous fire inspections. Morgan Avenue was closed during the incident.
Fire spokesman Brodie Sadowski said Thursday morning that the cause of the fire remains under investigation. He could not immediately provide an estimate of the damage.
The building, owned by JR Hart Corp., was built in 1929, according to Summit County property tax records. The company owes more than $180,000 in back taxes and penalties.
