MEDINA: An 18-year-old autistic man was killed and his parents were badly burned in an apartment fire at 3:15 a.m. Thursday on Springbrook Drive.
Beacon Journal news partner Newsnet5.com reports that the teen, who was confined to a wheelchair, was pronounced dead at the scene. His parents were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition. An earlier report stated the man’s mother had died, but the medical center stated she was in critical condition as of 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The apartment building was destroyed and about 20 residents are displaced, the television station says.
The investigation is continuing.
