Akron police were investigation two unrelated shootings that occurred within hours of each other late Tuesday and early Wednesday.
Shortly before midnight Tuesday, a 20-year-old man was shot in the 2300 block of East Avenue. He reported he was sitting in his vehicle when a man approached the driver’s side window and fired a gun several times.
The man was shot several times,but managed to drive himself to Summa Barberton Hospital. He was stabilized there and transported to Summa Akron City Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
The shooter is described as a black man in his 20s, wearing a light-colored or white hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
A second shooting occurred hours later in the 800 block of Ruth Avenue. A 22-year-old man said someone outside fired several shots into a house about 1:30 a.m. The man was struck in the back and was treated at Cleveland Clinic Akron General for wounds that weren’t life-threatening, police said.
No description was available for the shooter in the second incident.
