The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Akron area and Northeast Ohio after heavy rain fell overnight Wednesday and into Thursday.
The warning is in effect until 5:30 p.m. Thursday and covers the entire region, including Summit, Medina, Portage, Stark and Wayne counties.
By 9 a.m. Thursday, several areas had already received more than an inch of rain with additional precipitation expected throughout the day.
Rivers, streams and creeks are on the rise and runoff could force them over their banks.
Drivers across the region ran into treacherous conditions on some roads Thursday mornings, causing multiple delays.
