Browns vs. Bills: Quick Hits
What went right: Quarterback Robert Griffin III had one really promising series in the third quarter, highlighted by a 33-yard pass to wide receiver Andrew Hawkins on third-and-11 and Griffin’s 18-yard touchdown run on third-and-6. Unfortunately, Griffin didn’t do nearly enough for the vast majority of the game.
What went wrong: The Browns knew they had to at least limit the Bills’ No. 1-ranked rushing attack, but they were helpless. They surrendered 280 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 40 carries (7.0 average). It’s the third time this season they’ve allowed more than 200 rushing yards and the 12th time they’ve given up more than 100. The Cincinnati Bengals rushed for 271 yards on Oct. 23 and 213 on Dec. 11.
The bottom line: The Bills are built to win with a smashmouth style. The Browns aren’t built to win at all.
