The LeBron James Family Foundation on Thursday received a $223,000 check from DAP, a manufacturer of caulks, sealants and other repair items for home improvements.
Ronald Rice, president and chief operating officer of Medina-based RPM International — the parent company of DAP — presented the check Thursday night at the East High Community Learning Center, where the foundation held one of its hometown monthly meetings for the students and parents who live in Akron Public Schools’ East cluster.
The donation came from proceeds of a championship PGA golf tournament held in September.
Rice said the company likes the foundation’s mission and hopes the donation serves as an inspiration for the students to accept the I Promise Challenge and realize their full potential.
It’s the largest one-time lump sum donation from DAP, which has also donated to other organizations in the past.
The company announced that it plans to make the LeBron James Family Foundation the permanent beneficiary of the annual golf tournament.
